The Challenge

The youth of the world have been offered the chance of a lifetime; to help the United Nations find the best possible location for their new research building! Four building sites have been proposed and we are challenged with selecting the best of the four sites using a specific list of criteria. The criteria can be found on the following page. Help us to choose the best location for the new scientific research center.

Last year, the United Nations had approved funds for the building of a new scientific study center. This new center, to be called the United Nations Geological Survey, was modeled after the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The UN has rejected all proposals that were submitted in the last year. "I have never seen so many boring and inappropriate locations for a proud new building!" stated Dr. Roberts, the UNGS Project Leader. "We need people with open and creative minds to help select the new location!" Now that the UN has rejected all of the past proposals, it is up to the youth! Students across the world have the opportunity to help the UN by selecting the new building site! "We have a list of four possible building sites so far, but we don't have the time or money to finish the selection process," UN Fiscal Manager, Ima Buck stated at the news conference. The UNGS building will house the new satellite mapping unit as well as world earthquake research. Without the future building, scientists will be forced to work out of their old VW vans. This could become a crisis.
